What are the skills I need to get a Laboratory Technician job?
Technical Schooling definitely helps. I did it last term at the technical college where I live it was only a one term course. Got my certificate in April. Had to pay out of pocket but it was worth everything I learned. I have a great job at a plasma center and loving it. Hope this kind of helps.

Depends on the sort of lab you want to work at. I worked at an environmental chemistry lab. I would say be diligent and methodical in your work. If you show a willingness to learn and a good work ethic that goes a long way. If possible take a science class at night or online. If you can work towards getting a bachelor's in biology, chemistry, bio-chem (environmental science if applicable)that can put you on a path to advancement...at least at the lab I worked at. Good luck to you!
The most valuable skills that I used were from chemistry lab analysis, statistics, basic Excel skills and familiarity with documentation. Learn your equipment and calibration, and learn proper documentation.
