What training do I need to get qualified for a Graphic Designer job?

Can I be trained in Graphic design?

First thing you need to get is your design tool such as; sketch, coreldraw,Adobe photoshop
Then you begin Witt learning to design few texts , shapes etc …it’s a step at a time

Forgot to add that you will need a portfolio of your works to showcase your abilities and talents.

Great reply that Sheleen gave you. I would also add that innate creativity is essential and a passion for design. Learn as much as you can about typography/fonts, colors, branding, hierarchy as it relates to designing elements on a page, white space, imagery, etc. Learn your design software applications extremely well. Learn them in and out and be able to be creative in each. If designing for print/magazines/brochures; InDesign is your tool, for logos, vector drawings, icons, Illustrator will be your tool, for image manipulation, cool effects, layering and collaging, Photoshop will be great for that, and you can incorporate your illustrations in Photoshop as well. There are others, but I'm just naming some of the most popular. It takes time to get really good at each, so have patience with yourself. Read a lot of design books/magazines, look at what others consider good design and analyze why that is. Create a new design every day. Analyze it, get feedback from others and do it again and again. Read blogs, contact other designers, design managers, Art Directors for an introduction into the field. Collaborate with creatives because you never know who has an opening or opportunity. I suggest doing some freelance design work to start out, give you some experience with real-world projects. The most that I learned from design was not from school, but from every job that I had as a Designer. Each role gave me a different knowledge base and set of skills which I was able to build upon. You can take some design courses, and this will give you a good start and background on what design encompasses and what will be required. It is a very worthwhile and rewarding career field if you choose to do it. There is a lot to learn, but there are people out here who will help you along the way. Good luck to you!

It’s imperative that you learn what you are designing for. If it’s a printed product, you need to learn about printing techniques, paper types, color (Pantone vs CMYK) layout, etc. If you’re designing something to be produced on the web (a banner ad, a website, etc), there are a completely different set of “rules” for that. If you’re designing to produce a product, you need to know how to design correctly to get that product produced, be it a large electrical sign, a small sign, a logo…..whatever. Figure out what kind of graphic design you want to do, then learn as much as you can about that niche. The more you know and the more innovative you can be, the more you will thrive!
Figure out a graphic design project you want to accomplish and then start asking questions about what you need to know to do that project. The project needs to be more important to you than learning graphic design. Then you'll learn what you need to know. Spend time working in Adobe Creative Cloud applications most importantly InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator. Spend time working in Microsoft Office applications like Word, Powerpoint and Excel. You'll be surprised how often those basic programs will fill your graphic design need. CorelDraw is a much maligned program that has plenty of ability to match the Adobe Suite at a much cheaper price. Good luck.
