Felony Record}does this change whether or not I'm hireable?
Does it matter about felonies on your record ?

Excellent suggestions Elyssa. (Justice Network National Legal Representative)

The answer above is partially true. Member of my family has felony record for ten years plus now and still can not get the job or even an interview. Amazon, Uber, Lowes, Starbucks and more all turned him down because his felony record. It's so unfair; he didn't kill anybody or robbed any banks. He was using drugs that the criminals sold it to him. When he was in the rehabs (half of dozen times); even though they made it sounds like a safe place, but it's not. The places are full of drug dealers pressuring you to buy drugs and if you snitched they will kill you. If you lucky and still alive, the day they let you out there was some drug dealers waiting for you outside! The real criminals here are drug dealers and should be taken out in any shape or form. Those doing drugs because they're weak, easy to trust or simply stupid, they're victims and the employers should give them a chance.

yes,. best of luck. I expunged my felonies and they are still showing as arrested for felony.

Many employers will look at your record AND when you were convicted and how serious was your crime. Ex - convicted of joyriding ten years ago as a teen might not hurt your chances whereas convicted of armed robbery five years ago probably would

there are also tax incentives for them to hire you when you first get out. depends on how long you are out.

most states have a time limit on how far back they can look. NY is 7 years. check your state's regs.

It will change things a bit based on your background check. Each company is different but there are MANY that hire those with a past. Make sure to check out the #secondchances topic for more info!
Hi Delaney, from my understanding it is very dependent on your specific situation.
But, there are some employers that are more lenient and willing to give #secondchances. Here are some companies that are known for hiring those with a record:
Best of luck!
