Amazon warehouse employs people with a felony background. Also look at the links in Jobcase's 2nd chance resource center. All of them will take you to websites where you can search for jobs: https://www.jobcase.com/ru/second-chances

Depending on what kind of felony it is, most restaurants will hire you. Although you may start out working in a dish pit - if you show a great work ethic, are reliable (very important), have initiative to do more, you can and will be trained on other stations (especially on not-so-busy days/nights). Personally (and as someone who is part of the hiring process in our kitchen), I have not had any problems with hiring someone who is willing to work, shows initiative, is willing to learn, and who is reliable. Our pit-master (who makes $26/hour) is a felon. He's someone who has worked his way on up. I have a lot of respect for him - and he mentors/trains other employees. BTW - he served 7 years for stealing a Honda when he was 22.

So, yes. You are employable. Just be dead honest on your job application - and you can probably get hired (depending on the felony). Best of luck!

It really depends on what it is for, how long it’s been, and how well you can explain your situation. I have a felony and haven’t had too many issues with background checks. I’ve worked in a warehouse and two restaurants (as an AGM for several years and currently a GM) since my conviction. It always comes up but if they really want to hire you, they will ask you to explain the situation and as long as you can do that and show that you have since turned your life around, they’ll look past it.

I see a lot of people answering this type of question (not just on this post) with the same suggestions: warehouse worker, dishwasher, line cook, housekeeping.. these are all fine jobs if that’s what you want to do or if that’s what your experience allows, but don’t let your past decide your future. Don’t let the embarrassment or stigma around having a felony limit your potential. We’re all human and make mistakes and even HR knows that.

If you’re going to be submitting resumes from any job search platform, I would suggest adding a profile picture that does not contain cartoon characters. Just show you, so you will be taken more seriously. Truly just putting this here to help. Those pics are fun, for personal use, but not when you’re marketing yourself. Good luck on your search!
