How can I advance my career as a Material Handler?

Cross training, staying focused, ask questions, plan ahead, keep calm at all times, and don’t allow yourself to get burnt out. Rest and relaxation is very important.

Hello Angel, well let's see, now in my case I learn pretty quick and iv always volunteered to help other departments when was handed or I tried to do as much research, or I watched and listened and most everyone that you have gone out you way, stayed late for to help even when your shift was over will appreciate you, and that's where people will start talking and certain eyes and ears will be secretly taking it all in, and communicate to you superiors, but try not to be to eager and over bearing, work smart and never stop learning and school yourself as research other careers and show you interest..to be honest, a material handler is basically the person that fets ask for help from other deppartments because they got the most job duties than most. At least thats how i see it. I was working seasonal at a company called Harry and David's in Medford Oregon, and I started out at 18.50 but got 60 cent more an hour because I did my duties above and beyond, and that's making the business money,

All depends on how far you want/can go in your industry or if you just want to be one of the best and top certified material handler around..there are different materials that are handled by different machines and you're supposed to get certified for each of those specialty vehicles for moving the materials.. i.e. just this past fall I started a job where I was first introduced to a turret..that thing is fun as hell to drive.. pushing multiple pallets at a time around corners..

Learn everything you can about the materials you handle, including how to store them and how they are made and the supply chain process. Also some business management classes can help.

Ask your lead or manager, become more proactive in your job, you work with lumber. Me I worked. In medical, so they are different jobs. But that's just an idea. Best of 🤞
