To qualify for a receptionist job, your resume should emphasize communication, organization, and customer service skills. Here’s a list of details to include, ideally tailored to each job posting:

  1. Contact Information • Full name • Phone number • Email address • LinkedIn profile (optional)

  2. Professional Summary (3–4 lines) • Highlight your experience in front desk, customer service, or administrative roles • Mention strong communication and organizational skills • Example: “Friendly and organized receptionist with 3+ years of front desk and customer service experience in fast-paced environments. Skilled in managing multi-line phone systems, scheduling, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests and clients.”

  3. Skills Section (bullet points)

Focus on relevant hard and soft skills: • Answering multi-line phone systems • Appointment scheduling • MS Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) • Customer service • Conflict resolution • Data entry • Filing and record-keeping • Time management • Verbal and written communication

  1. Professional Experience

Include: • Job title • Company name and location • Dates of employment • Bullet points with achievements and responsibilities: • “Greeted and assisted over 100 visitors weekly in a professional manner.” • “Managed calendars and scheduled appointments for five executives.” • “Handled incoming calls, directed inquiries, and took detailed messages.”

  1. Education • High school diploma (minimum requirement for most receptionist roles) • Any college coursework or degree • Relevant certifications (e.g., Office Administration, Customer Service)

  2. Certifications or Training (if applicable) • CPR/First Aid (for medical offices) • Receptionist training • Bilingual skills (mention if fluent in another language)

  3. Optional: Volunteer Work

If you have little experience, include volunteer roles that show customer-facing or clerical work. And add that you have experience using ChatGPT.

My suggestion is to know all the Microsoft skills, Word, excel, PowerPoint, etc. That has helped me immensely. I also ship smaller packages UPS and FedEx. Mailing and sorting mail.
