Kelly's right Ben. Thats the general perception but most big companies require that you first apply and interview for a new job which isn't really a guarantee. Smaller companies offer more promotions from within.

Hi Ben, I agree with Dave that it depends on the company. However, the best advice I can give you is to locate someone in the company who started out in the position you are applying for and see their pattern of growth thus far. That will allow you to map out some sort of growth and potentially use that person as a mentor to follow their path or gain advice from.

Hi Ben, It really depends on the company more so than the size. You should be clear what your goals are through out the initial interview to the end.
