Owner Manager at Zoey Janes Closet

There are ton of free classes online to start with. I believe Indeed/linkton had some. I know Corsea had some. Observer fellow supervisors, not to them only to yourself. Think about what you liked about their skills and didn't like. Again do not voice your opinions to them please, unless it was something they did that was awesome . Your depth of labor may have access to some courses also. Good luck!

  1. Always follow the rules/policies of the company.
  2. Learn from those that are in the position you want to be in.
  3. Show your team that you are there for them. Listen to their questions/concerns with the intent to help not to reply. If you don't have the answers tell them but get back to them after seeking the answers from someone else.
  4. Be transparent. Be respectful to all coworkers from the bottom to the top.
  5. Address negative behavior as an coaching opportunity not a bashing session.
  6. Work with the end goal in mind. Meaning when things get rough, you feel like giving up, remember where you trying to get to in your career.

Always do the best you can do then go the extra mile. Lose the fear of telling your superiors what you need . always be prepared to be questioned. Have thoughtful answers not what you think will make them happy. Supervisors are placed to be the eyes and ears for the company. Always treat your people working for you with the same understanding and respect you want for yourself. Still hold them accountable to accomplish the tasks at hand

Career advancement as a supervisor? Three important things that worked for me

  1. Read it ,say it and then do it.
  2. Put yourself in their shoes then act accordingly, remember we’re here to make the difference, not friends
  3. Support the positive shun the negative

If you do these three things you will advance not only in your work life but in your personal life as well.

You got this 🤓

You have to be an all around worker, be respectful towards others, but also make them understand that work is work, also the main thing is that people fire themselves you only enforce the rules, if they steal, miss work, bad attitude, do drugs or come in intoxicated, it's on them and when you make them understand that and that you are the boss it will work itself out and always push safety rather they hate you for it or not at the end of the day they will love you for going home to their family I have more but experience comes with time and you only need what ever paper you need for the job you do a lot of those College degrees can't teach you how to handle all situations that comes with the facts of life that a book can't show or teach you

First you need to develop your present supervisor skills to be a true leader. Read leadership books and take leadership classes. Learn six sigma black belt many companies look for employees with six sigma black belt backgrounds. It will help you develop your teams to be able to solve problems as a team. Which in turn will develop their skills for future advancement. Six sigma teaches teamwork and their ideas could possibly save time and energy which could save a company money in the long run. Treat your team with respect, honestly, and give them the same commitment you expect from them. Listen and I mean really listen to what your employees have to say because good employees will stay at a job that has good management. Employees usually leave a job of the management is poor so be the best you can be. Do quarterly reviews on your employees instead of yearly because you can keep track better at their strengths and weaknesses and see where they need help. Also have your employees give you a review you will be surprised at how honest they can be. Then grow from it. So to advance further in your career, take ownership, develop, listen, act and be open to hearing what your employees have to say. I wish you the best in moving forward because you are truly in charge of your destination and how far you can go!!!

Read books on leadership. Extreme leadership is one the best I have read. If you have a opportunity to take leadership classes or seminars that your company offers then make sure you ask to participate in them. Also take the time to learn about your team individually. Find out about their life, find out if they have children, this will help you understand how to motivate and encourage them. You want to motivate and encourage through honesty and integrity always. Don’t let your team see you discouraged with management and never use cuss words while trying to motivate. Ask questions without getting too personal and let them open up and tell you what they choose to. Just let them know your interested in their life and then everyday ask them how things are going to let them know you care. The whole point of this is to develop a team that will want to push to meet the goals management has set for your team, after all your success and possible promotion is at stake and you want to develop a team that wants you to succeed. Always encourage a team mentality, one group of individuals striving to reach a common goal. Set goals and figure out a reward system for reaching these goals. Another huge quality you need to develop personally is to own your mistakes as a supervisor. If you make a mistake that holds your team back own it and make a plan to fix it. The other big thing is holding your team accountable when they break company policies. Use the write up system or whatever tools you have and stick to them yourself. A great supervisor never lets his team see him outside of company policy ever. Spend time everyday with your lowest performers as well as your top performers. I can go on and on but the point is their are books and seminars on leadership that will help you succeed. I wish I was your manager because just caring if you succeed at supervisor means you would want to help your manager succeed as well. Don’t try to push a manager out unless it’s by promoting them so they move on leaving a spot for you to move up. Last thing is pick a team leader that has the same mentality you do.

Good luck!!!

Honest days work for honest days pay

Be fair but firm. Develop people skills. Be a leader by example. Listen to your people. Quite often they know the job better than you Take sound advice. Maintain positive” can do” attitude even in adverse situations. Praise your people publicly. Discipline them privately. Silently pray to God for guidance. Treat subordinates the same way you wish to be treated. With respect.
