I've been blessed with numerous job transitions. While the pain and challenges have been extensive, the experience and empathy gained equipped me to help other job seekers that struggle. We are all aware that the job recruitment space is dysfunctional, my mission is to help seekers of opportunity function within the dysfunction. Jobseekers and Salespeople are both opportunity hunters. Both have something to sell – solutions and themselves. Both face similar challenges. The difference? Salespeople are provided tools, training, and support; they’re equipped for the challenge. Jobseekers? Well not so much. Ageism, racism, nepotism, classism, sexism, feminism, or any other “ism” you can name - can block deals for salespeople or gigs for opportunity seekers. How do they cope? Successful salespeople build pipelines of opportunity, working qualified leads, either getting to “no” quickly or driving to “yes” methodically. Opportunity seekers, on the other hand, will nurture one maybe two leads at a time. They hope and pray for “yes” – but, instead of driving the process - the process tends to drive them. Just a spoonful of “no” can leave them discouraged and doubting, mainly because they hang their hopes on a single opportunity rather than placing confidence in a controlled process. This is why I'm helping job seekers by setting them up with a free configured CRM to help them stay motivated and organize their search activities, similar to a successful salesperson. Having to find employment can be a scary proposition. Especially for those that are not familiar with how the process works. OppSecrets aims to ease some of the stress and anxiety associated with the experience by educating and coaching job seekers, equipping them with information on the recruiting industry.The originator of a careers ministry where I developed a 7 part "JobSeeker Bootcamp" designed to assist individuals in transition. The series was well received and attended by approximately 100 job seekers.
This program was purpose driven to serve the church and community by ministering to those struggling to find their next opportunity. Helping people discover their passion so they may better understand their God-given purpose and talent is our prime objective.
People tend to define themselves by their work. What happens when what once defined a person is suddenly removed? Brokenness.
