No luck

Have applied for countless jobs at Walgreens from management to cashier, no luck, I guess age is a determining factor. Hope to hear at least a NO (courtesy)

They help others

Poverty hits close to home for me. I grew up very poor and when I was hungry and asked my mom for some food for dinner we sometimes ate nothing. New clothes for school? I was lucky I had them in the first place. My mom did the best she could for my brother and me. When I worked for Walgreens I liked that they ran National Red Nose Day (it's today actually) which is when we would sell those red noses that you sometimes see clowns wearing at kid's birthday parties for a dollar. Walgreens donates half the proceeds to kids in need from those sales. It helps all kinds of things like the boys and girls club and other important charities. It also gives them food. I always remember thinking I hope no kid out there has to go through what we did. I liked that Walgreens supported this. Every big business out there should. I always bought a red nose every year and I always will.

I haven't worked in the public industry for a few years because, I was caring for an elder parent that had to go into a Nursing Care facility full-time. Now I am looking to work part-time either at Walgreens or a Bank but I just need to be able to get my feet in the door does anyone have any suggestions for me

What I liked about Walgreens

The Walgreens I worked for had a very good manager. He always was personable and kind but ran a tight ship. That's why the store was always so well organized and super clean. He made sure to it. This was an excellent job for me. At the time it was additional income and really close to my house so it worked out great!!

I was down and this job was there for me

I remember when I worked at Walgreens and I had to have a necessary surgery to remove a large tumor in my left arm. My boss and all my coworkers came to the hospital to see me. They brought me my favorite Walgreens break snack (peanut m&m’s and cherry coke, don’t judge haha) and a gorgeous bouquet of flowers. One by one the whole team came that week to say hi and check on me. It meant the world and it was nice to know I had my job waiting for me when I got back.

NO money for diapers!!

One time at work this woman came rushing in and was frantically looking for diapers for her baby. I helped show her where the aisle was. She explained that her 11-year-old son had grabbed the wrong bag for her on their way out. She was rushing and the baby was screaming so she hadn't been paying attention. Their bag had no baby supplies and they were far away from home when the baby needed a change. I tried to make her laugh and cheer her up as the baby was getting fussy. I told her this can happen to any mom. As she goes to pay she realizes her wallet is also in the other bag as well and she starts to get upset. I took the diapers from her and went to my co-worker's register and had her ring me out along with some wipes and some candy for her son. She hugged me with tears in her eyes. I never felt so good before. The next week wouldn't you know it she came back to the store and told us she wouldn't shop anywhere else but Walgreens. She handed me a check for $100 to thank me for "saving the day." I was shocked! I told her I was just doin what anyone else would. She said no one else would have helped them the way I had.
