Need to know if I was discriminated against

Well I went for my interview and the next couple of days waiting for a call they called and said to come to orientation on such date. So I went and right before we left we got shorter on the store and I asked if I could put my purse in the file cabinet to be locked up she said no we don't allow that I said okay no problem so I can read it. The next day I was a little late because my bus was late and I got there and I walked back towards the office you take it out of here you don't belong back here and I said okay and then she said you're not in uniform and I said I know I'm not homeless and I was trying to get my friends to help me buy the shirt that I need it and I would have them by the next day so I asked if I could have a smoke she said no not until you are in full uniform I said fine no problem. She had another group of orientation people come in and as they were going to leave a female asked if she could put her purse up somewhere it just came back then I said sure and locked it in a file cabinet to where I was not allowed to lock my purse up. The next day I came in and was working on the computer and I knew I was wrong I had my phone out I admit I should not have had it out, but she walks up behind me Polk me really really hard in my right shoulder and said put that damn phone away I said okay thinking luckily I didn't turn around and punch her but the fact is the girl that was sitting next to me had her phone out and she said nothing to her I don't know what I did or what I said to be treated the way I've been treated since I started but it got to the point where I couldn't even come into work because I would have to deal with her and it just made me so sick so I quit because the head manager wouldn't even talk to me it kept blowing me off. Sincerely what should I have done

Walmart sold me used shoes that was infested with bugs that bite...

I had a mortifying experience not even 2 months ago. I was not even in my home area because my family and I were attending a wedding. We were spending a couple nights at a Hotel, so my step daughter forgot a second pair of shoes, all she had with her was the wedding shoes and some flip flops that she came with on the drive there but somehow lost them. I have always been an over-packer which means whenever we go somewhere, whether it's for a week or ONLY ONE NIGHT, I always pack extra clothing and shoes but this time I didn't, I only got just enough for myself. As my responsibility as a STEP MOTHER, I have to take care of my beloved step daughter, meaning she comes first. I offered my shoes and she took them gladly because Frankly, I only worn them once. I was happy to end her frustration. Anyway, that's when I reached

Getting hired at Walmart (from a former associate)

First of all you need to understand, being an international corporation, they get swamped with applications. It takes the computer system 48-72 hrs. just to process the applications into the proper data bases by region. Then it sorts them by your ZIP Codes. And applications are only good for 6 months then they are dumped. That being said, I don't advise using the kiosk inside the stores. The system hiccups every once in a while and they lose all the information that was in there (the applications). Don't know how often this happens, but I was told this by an upper management person who happened to be in my local store when I was. I was told to do an application online and it would get where it needed to go. So with over 30 years experience in retail, I filled out my 5th application in less than a year. Online. Also when you do the application online, when you get to the assessment (or test) part of it, answer the questions pretty much in the middle of your multiple choice answers. They don't want anybody who thinks too highly or poorly of themselves. Anyway, I got called the following week. To follow up on your application, if at all possible physically go to the store you are applying at and talk to the people in personnel. They will pull up the applicants in the area, and see if your application has been processed yet, and if so they will have a face to put with the name. If not keep going back to check on the status of your application. If you keep bugging them they are going to think this person really wants to go to work. And always dress like you are going to an interview. They may do one right on the spot. I've seen it happen. Good luck with that.

As far as working for Walmart....it's a very big corporation. Therefore you have the corporate mentality. Unfortunately, for the most part, your just a number on a piece of paper that caters to the stockholders. It really depends on the store management how the associates (you are not employees you are associates) are treated. In the almost 5 years that I worked for Walmart, I had some wonderful bosses and some down right crappy bosses. And they want you available any and all of the hours your store is open. The more hours your available usually the more you will get. But do keep in mind that Walmart usually only hires part-time to begin with. The stockholders do not like to pay for benefits. Although they do have good benefits for full-time associates. As far as experience goes, it really doesn't matter to them. They say they will train you. But in reality all they do is throw you out on the floor after you complete your computer training. I called it education not training because at the end of each section, and there's a lot, you have to pass a test to move forward. Not always enough computers for everybody. But you get through it. I'll write more later. I have to go give somebody they're dinner break where I now work. So from The Napa Valley, CA have a good evening.

Job Seeker With Upper Level Management Experience...Will Take Any Position I Enjoy (PLEASE READ)

Hello Everyone,

I am new to this site therefore please forgive me if this is the incorrect forum to post about your occupational search. With that being said I am currently seeking a position that places me in front of customers. I have over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry with a BS degree in Hospitality Management where I started as a busboy at 16 years old and climbed the ranks to eventually becoming the Food & Beverage Director on the hotel side of the business and a District Manager for Compass Group prior to that. With that being said this absolutely does not mean I am limiting my search to upper level management or only management as at this point in my career I am not concerned about how much I get paid a year or what my job title is. I simply want to enjoy what I do for work be excited to go to work everyday and feel satisfied when I leave because one cannot put a price tag on happiness. Therefore I will do any level of management/supervisor and I am MORE than willing to be an entry level hourly associate somewhere as long as I enjoy the opportunity. Basically if any level of position in any industry seems as it may be something I would enjoy, I would positively like to discuss it further in an interview. Also please note that just because I have 5 years experience in upper management does not mean in any way that in a hourly role I would believe I am somehow more knowledgeable or smarter than any of my peers or ever question anybody in a supervisory role's direction given to me as my intention would simply be to act as a sponge to learn as much as I possibly could from both parties then come into work when scheduled and on time to exceed the company's expectations for that respected position.

I am available 24 hours a day, 7 days, a week, 365 days a year and I know that includes Thanksgiving and Christmas which I have not had off in 11 years anyway. If an employer sees this post I ask that they please view my profile and if I seem I may be a good fit for the position you are seeking to fill and the company you represent then no matter what the opening is please feel free to contact me anytime as I am available to start immediately. I know it is on us to apply to the positions we are interested in but it is virtually impossible to see every single job.

Good morning to everyone in this group, my sincere apologies if this is the incorrect place to post about what you are looking for to employers but like I said I literally just set this up this week therefore I hope I am allowed a couple mistakes before I fully learn the site. Otherwise enjoy your Sunday and good luck in your job searches as looking for a job is a full time job in itself!

Jeremy S.
