Selected Achievements

Updated quality program, resulting in renewal of important certification. Lamons was trying to maintain its American Petroleum Institute (API) 6A Certification. With just 2-3 months lead time, conducted audit of system to identify/correct weak areas. Instituted higher Quality Program standards, leading to 25% fewer findings than previous audit and 40% fewer during second re-certification audit conducted during the next period. Also achieved an additional certification for API 17D.

Created/implemented comprehensive Safety Program, resulting in certification of all facilities. A major customer required Lamons to show evidence that a Safety Program was established and maintained as well as a record of all safety incidents. Developed an OHSAS 18001 Safety Program, rolled out at one selected branch over 12-month period. After program was certified at the site servicing that key customer, plan was implemented and certification obtained at 20 additional facilities.

Wrote product specifications needed to obtain timely supplier quotes, enabling early completion of project. WS Nelson needed product specifications written/delivered to prospective suppliers quickly in order to meet project deadline. Produced specifications in record time, shortening time for suppliers to complete bids by 3 weeks. Assisted with follow-up visit/calls to ensure schedule was met/quality product was delivered. Enabled project to be completed 2 weeks early with no extra costs.

Spearheaded overhaul of environmental testing program, assuring needed corrective actions were taken. A consultant to Forge USA established an Environmental Program, which needed to be maintained. Determined that some of the storm drain samples had not been taken nor records maintained on file, causing a citation by local City Inspector. Had required samples collected and tested, with corrective action taken where needed, enabling all governing requirements of program to be met.

Career Overview

QA/Safety Manager, Lamons, 2010-2015. Managed 25 people and QA/Safety Dept. manufacturing processes for all business operating units’ of this 800+-employee sealing products company. Assured safe and fully-compliant execution of procedures.

QA/Project Manager, WS Nelson, 2009-2010. Selected/managed 15-18 field inspection personnel assigned to monitor manufacturing activities at supplier’s facility to ensure compliance of approved process, inspection and testing procedures.

QA Manager, Forge USA, 2005-2009. Managed the Manufacturing Quality & Environmental Team and other program activities to assure compliance with industry and environmental standards as well as customer requirements.

QC Manager, Oil States Industries, 1998-2005. Led team that ensured subsea equipment being manufactured in the shop complied with engineering design drawings, industry standards, and shop floor inspection routings. Developed, implemented and assured compliance of HSE Program. Cut number of safety incidents 8% first year.

Quality Consultant/Owner, A&C Quality Services, 1995-1998. Developed and implemented a QS 9000 quality program for 4 chemical plant operating units and 1 power-generating site PITI POWER plant in Guam.
