I graduate in May with an Associates in Information Systems Technology
I have no idea where to start looking. I have no experience to offer except my degree. Can someone help me figure out what to apply for.

I fully understand your concerns. Try to work at a call center for for service support, small company, retail company that provides technical support such as Office Depot or Best Buy. In addition, try to do contract work this is where you will get your experience. Take the A+ and Network certification its very important without it you won't be able to get a job in IT.

tryindeed.com and the company called adecco. Dell, Heward packard, and Cisco systems are engineering companies that can help with information technology. Some of your cable companies that supply to power into different neighborhoods can also help find the right position for a job.

Career counseling at your school; agencies that place IT graduates; scout the internet. Continue to work towards a Bachelors in IT. Make sure you are in a less fungible area of IT like architecture.

Try craigslist.org - they have a jobs section that includes the category "technical support".

Hello Michealine, I would recommend somthing like... Working for the Government within the Environmental Control and Life Support Systems Water Filtration Challenge. And managment... ECLSS. (NASA)

Look for a position as a entry level IT Help desk. Try the site salary.com and see what matches there. Did you take a internship while in school. Sometime AT&T has internships that are more than just for the summer but only last a month before school is over.

Michaeline, I would suggest that you get CompTIA A+ certified. This certification is equivalent to one year experience. Also, may IT jobs require this to be hired. Then I would do job searches for Help Desk, and PC Field Technician these jobs usually are entry level positions. I"m working on my BA in Information Technology and I have no experience but I have taken the certification and I have several interviews already. I'm a career changer with 25 years experience in Retail Management. I hope this helps you and good luck.

Hi Michaeline,
Have you looked into internship? That is also one way to get into a company and get attention. Others here have given good advice as well.
Have your resume reviewed by your friends, or others, for ensuring it shows your background effectively. I looked up your name on LinkedIn and I see one person with your name (Loudoun County) and there is not much information. As suggested, build that profiled and there are number of sites providing advice on how to create an effective profile.
Through it all, keep a positive attitude.
All the best,

Congratulations on achieving the degree! Others have posted many good ideas here. Check them out. Look especially at the ones that use the skills from classes you enjoyed. Another option, although it's probably not a good long-term option, is technology retail. For instance, working at the IT desk in Best Buy, a MicroSoft, Apple, or other computer store.
What school are you going to finish?
