It all depends if you are working for someone or working for yourself. If you're working for someone, you can learn skills of plating your knife skills, different techniques, the different sauces. It's a whole lot you can learn under someone, but if you're doing it on your own, you can build up your clientele and get more work. Some word of mouth and advertising is important. If you have any other questions just let me know

I took some tests when I went into the military, afterwards my results were I was qualified for everything except for a cook , and cooking is something I've been doing since the age of 10 yrs old when my Mother let me cook as she tutored me on this note , I love to see people smile after they've tasted my cooking, after the military I went to school and got my degree in Culinary arts and I haven't looked back, so learning and acquiring skills in cooking can also give you the incentive to work for top restaurants or hotels or even open your own business, I've been cooking for over 25 years and there's always something new or different to cook , it's a great career move and you will never have a problem with finding work . Go for it it's a a great career move because everyone has to eat !!!
