In my opinion give it 3 to 7 days to call Big Lots and check on the status of your application. Or, go in person so they'll have you in mind when reviewing candidates. Doing this, shows them you want the job, persistent, and willing. You can also call other locations of Big Lots to see if they have any openings and carry a copy of your resume and of the application to other locations. It widens your chances.

First, does the potential employer have an online status process? If so, check the online status, honor the process and put off a direct call for 8 - 10 days. If there is no online status available, do a follow-up call within 5 - 7 days. If you've interviewed once already, do a carefully crafted, brief email "Thank you" immediately after, and do a follow-up call within 3 or 4 days. If/when you do interview your final two interactions should be:: What can I expect next? And, how long would you expect that to take? And, of course, "I am truly, truly interested in continuing consideration...I love what I've learned about this position!" Remember, you don't have all the info UNTIL they make you an offer, and you can always turn down an offer, or ask for an enhancement to the offer.

Hey Lamont - I would definitely give them a call. With any application you submit, it is best to make the first follow up within 1-2 days of submitting your application. This allows you to make sure it was received by the company. Then you can follow up 1 week later to see if you are being considered for the job. Good luck!
