Assembler at Lowes Home Improvement

What is wrong with this picture??

I have over 30 years of experience in administrative, customer service and have supervised personnel in New York City/Long Island. After streamlining my resume which was professionally created, I have applied to at least 500 positions in the Delaware Kent County region and still not getting calls for employment. Am I over qualified or is it age discrimination?

Good news. I hung in there and now have a choice between two jobs. One to start on the 10th, the other on the 19th. I may take both if I can work it out. For those who are having a hard time finding employment just as I did, keep the faith. Thank you all for your assistance. James

I to have over 35 years of customer service and clerical. I have not been able to find a job. Hundreds of applications. Im 55 but can still perform better than most young adults. I know how frustrating it can be. I just keep searching. Something is bound to happen. I do think its the age issue. Some say its because they don't want to pay you what your worth. I say just pay me!! At this point I am open to any amount. I'm sorry you are going through this. You are definitely not alone.

Hi, James! I would always suggest going back to your resumé. Even if you got it done professionally, that does not make it an ideal fit for every job you're going to end up applying for. Try looking at the jobs you want and evaluate what skills they desire most in a candidate. Which of those skills do you have? A resumé should never be set in stone. It should change with your job search to suit the jobs you're looking for and should tell the story of why you're the best candidate for an employers specific job opening. I hope this helps!

Hello James. I find that very interesting. I moved to Kent county last year this time and I am having the same situation except I have in Health care. I have been told that Delaware is rascist toward those who come from the North. I dont beleieve that. I beleive that this is a southern state and slow state in many regards to technology and modern business and they feel threatened when people have more knowledge or experience then them ( in fear of losing their job to people like us). This state caters to military and the retired. Most people here find employment in NJ, Philly, Martland, and DC. So good luck finding a job in Delaware!
