Whats your thoughtd
My view on job recruiters from someone with extensive interactions with them...my thoughts and interactions as well as a detailed account with several recruiters over the years... I started off using recruiters due to the fact that I own my own business and all I really was interested in was using them for /or as a liaison between me and the potential employers, I believe that that will be the best course of action due to the fact that I was not looking for long-term employment but temporary employment to supplement my income when my business was slow little did I realize that in time recruiters are not for the potential employee they are seeking to get employed through the companies that they are working with but they are more concerned fo the employer, and please don't ever have to separate from a company that a recruiter has placed you with and it is by no means your fault the recruiter will lose contact with you after that as if that is the only company that they are recruiting for. I've dealt with more job recruiters then I would ever like to admit to and a lot of them seem on the surface very nice and highly Interested in getting you employed, but what we as the potential contingent employees must remember is that as much as we would like to think that they are working for us they're really not they're really just trying to get us put some place so that they can get paid from the potential employer. Now I'm not that guy that's just going to say all the recruiters out here are like that because I am sure as my faith is in humanity that there are some genuine recruiters out here that actually care about the contingent employee more so than they do about the employer they're going to place the people at, that they actually care about what happens at the potential employer in that they have their contingent employees back, but in my circumstances I have not seen that to be true. Let's take a look at my last position let's just say I was at a auto finance company in Plano I had been working there probably two and a half months when I got let go for my my attendance mind you I'm at work an hour early every day I've never had to call off and I was sent home once because I was very ill, and the reason the gave my temp service was attendance my recruiter did not believe that and seemed genuinely proactive in getting me reemployed else where, and then I never heard from her again and she rarely accept my calls now...tbc...one day I have vented enough for now.
Hi Karlton, I totally agree that not all recruiters should be lumped into the same category. I have worked with those that I have personally LOVED that were responsive and helped me find work, but I have also worked with those that were just not a good fit for me. My advice is when you feel a recruiter is worth working with, give them a try and if you think they are showing you signs that they aren't, simply thank them for their time and move on. Make sure to do your homework and research the company first to find out a little more about what makes them tick. Look at employee reviews to find out what their culture is like and how they are treated. This will give you a much deeper understanding of what it would be like to work there rather than simply asking a recruiter you can do your own detective work. Best of luck Karlton!!
