How am I suppose to get a job when I apply and never hear anything back?
I am 18, and searching for a job. I have filled out a lot of the jobs I know I can apply for, and I only heard back from one, and that was a we'll keep your resume for future applications. If I'm suppose to get a job so I can pay for my own things, then why isn't anyone responding to my application? I've been trying for months, had a professional help me with my resume, and still nothing. And please don't say I have to try harder, I am trying a s hard as I can between school, tennis practice, and any events through the year. I know, I can't be an oil technician because I don't have my license, but I've applied at almost every fast food place in a reasonable distance, and several department stores. All entry level positions that deal in customer service. I'm also thinking about applying to a few coffee stands, but none of the ones I can get to are looking for help. Does anyone know how I'm suppose to obtain a job when no one looks twice at my application. (My sister is having the same issue, and she applied for more places than I did. She also has her license, though she can't drive until she gets a job to pay for insurance.)
Have you tried followup on the application, asking how long they normally take to call back for application, or what are the next steps in the application process. In the mean time, you can apply to temp agencies, yes they are temporary, but it a source of income in the meantime. Since you have school, tennis, other events throughout the year. Be aware, employers want to see consistency, so if the weekend is when you are completely free apply for a weekend job.
