Wasted Efforts!!

I’ve been actively looking for a job since April with no luck. This is what I have done so far to to improve my job search results. A- went to a career counselor to get a professional update on my resume, B- applied online and via snail mail for at least three job openings everyday, C- Called companies directly to inquire about job opportunities, D- emailed, messaged, and called everyone in my family and social media network to request job or internship leads. In return for this I have received countless TNT letters (thanks, No Thanks!), part time minimum wage offers, and email job offer scams. Not sure what else I can do to find a job. Is there a cut-off time during the summer when hiring executives go on vacation and suspend hiring? I want to know if it's even worth while putting in more effort or starve until fall.

I moved from Ohio to South Dakota because a friend told us there were job opportunities. I've accepted minimum wage employment, while looking for the right job. I have hit dead end after dead end the same as you. What has worked for me is to apply directly from the company website and not through job ad websites. Good luck and I hope you find something soon.

half the jobs you find on these website I find are a dead end they have them on here so long and they do not exist. I have been looking for some time know contact agencies and the ads and it is a dead end. I have over 20 years accounting or splitting it all apart and I find one dead end after another they get funded by the state when they show open jobs that do not even exist. But it keeps the companies funded. I had a few be honest and told me that

Dress nicely as if you expect to be interviewed and print out a stack of resumes. Take them in to numerous places. I'd say at least 5-10 a day. You will get calls. I had the same issue until I did that and I got a same day interview and a job by the end of the week

Amen. I thought I was mentally damaging myself trying over and over thus getting the same results. And if not, a horrible job with horrible leadership that was threatened by my high standard of quality. I have an accomplished background, however our society is not based on achievements in the case of the general population. I felt as if I was the only one dealing with this issue. I do not want to include race because we all are struggling, but being a young black male has made it quite more difficult than for some. I wish you well on your journey as we all need a change for the better.

Anthony, don't give up. Remember, during the summer months a lot of companies work with interns from colleges. They work for free and some also are errand boys. When the summer is over, the companies will look at resumes again. Who in their right mind gives up free work for a letter of reference and an grade. Are you retiring from the Military or exiting the Military? Look into going to school with the post 9/11 GI Bill. For 3 years, you get an education, recieve BAH of an E-5 with dependents, and can look for a job in your career field at the same time. Just giving options. If your looking for a job TODAY, go to a head hunter or even a temporary agency to place you. A lot of companies are heading that way in regards to hiring. They can have someone else look for the perfect person and the company can see about the fit and work ethic. Goid luck.

Expand your circle of network contacts by doing volunteer work and joining in with church activities and groups, is one thing I can think of. Keep an eye out on Craigslist, especially the "general labor" section - you will be surprised the interesting jobs you might find there. Cold - calling local businesses to introduce yourself and leaving some contact information even if no jobs are advertised might also help out. I wish I had links to other posts I've made on here because they were full of ideas. Not sure how to find them now.
