Tired and frustrated.....
How sucky is it to move back to your home town unexpectably and your daughter moves in "surprise ", you have so much experience and hard work to give any employer that gives you the chance but still no calls after 4hours of online filling out 4 applications sucks!!! Over today! Bed Time

SORRY to hear that moving back to your home town isn't a HAPPY feeling. Why did your daughter move back in & isn't she helping you out ? If you don't mind me asking ?. Not sure how the job market is there but for us all it varies so it's hard to say what you could & should do. I know looking online is hard & frustrating because it does take time I've been looking too. Just stay positive & KEEP your head up something will come up. Maybe you could find something Part Time till you find what you're looking for WISH I could say more. Good Luck :)

I know the feeling! Been looking since August. Hang in there Crystal!

Find out what you're really good at. Write out a business plan and start Networking to show banks that you has clients. Read books on what it is you're good at. Always be ready and willing to explain it to EVERYONE

I totally understand how you feel, i honestly do because i am going through the same thing. I have caused so much pain to myself because of it, i had to just let go and let God. Just continue to pray on it and let him work it out! Although my blessing havent came in the form of my career, i know its coming. Stay on faith street!

I know exactly what you mean. Moved back home almost four years now and still looking for a job. I had three bs jobs that I couldn't deal with and now out looking again, smh.

Crystal, You are not alone, we are frustrated by putting in applications on line and through e-mail. Just hang in there, Family will always be important, so find the job your looking for, and don't let this take you down. Get going, your time is coming

Hello Crystal, I agree with everyone about staying positive and most important is consistency in your job search. The single largest mistake made in this country over the past decade in reference to becoming employed is not your issue. Human Resources, once was a great department in the beginning when their role was being a intermediary between managers and employees providing employees with an opportunity to have a voice. It was a great original concept but this Department began to have more and more responsibilities created by Lazy Executives who saw an opportunity to create a massive department, eliminating their responsibilities in the hiring process. In my 35 year career, I've interviewed, recruited, and created full cycle recruitment programs for thousands of employees in 7 different Industries and had extremely, way above average retention rates. Most of my Ventures were self employment and delivered additional revenues of $800 million either my own companies or 1099 consulting. It sounds like this is your first experience with online job searching. Here is how Human Resources has ruined, not intentionally and sure they're working very hard on trying to recruit the best candidates. However, here are the problems:
- Every Job Board sends over an application. This application is run through an electronic screening system that eliminates 90% of the candidates and maybe 10% are ever reviewed.
- The remaining applications are reviewed by an HR Generalist, at best 28 years old and totally unfamiliar with the job you're applying.
- They eliminate another 7% by a guidelines standard coordinated between Management and Human Resources. These proposed guidelines are completely ridiculous, when it comes to your true qualifications for a position. Aptitude test that most 3rd graders could easily respond with the correct answer if they have any common sense at all. In fact, for most people who have the experience and work ethic, these are insulting.
- Finally, if you get through all this incredibly unnecessary bureaucracy, then you get a Skype interview, you guessed it, another 25 tear old HR Generalist working from an HR scripted format, supposedly, narrowing the field even further. The problem once again, is ask them any question about the position you're applying for and they're clueless. I know this as fact, I've tested and first hand applied for positions that my experience and skill set, equivalent to that of a CEO, been earning strong 6 figures since 25 years of age, I'm now 60 and the position was a $50,000 year job. Twice contacted by these HR Generalist and confirmed everything just discussed. I have no problem with HR Departments, however, management and CEO's have turned these responsibilities over to them. Now, the HR Department has control of the Company and are using useless programs to determine positions. My advice, because 4 hours is nothing when I've spoken with over 100 extremely qualified individuals who have been doing what you are doing everyday for 3 months. Stop wasting valuable time online, what I've just described is reality. If you continue, I can assure you, the frustration level will be 10X where it is now over the next month. If you're not a strong 6 figure earner with that level of experience, you need to stick with local forums such as Craigslist or find a local Recruiter that is familiar with local Companies and can match your experience with Local Companies. Take control of this process instead of allowing the process to take control of you. One last thing: So many people let Companies determine they're value. When you do talk with someone, it is important for you to remember, the interview process is not just a Company evaluating you're skill set but you should be interviewing them as well, to determine if this is a good fit for you. be polite, professional, and answer all their questions. When they ask if you have any questions, this is the time for you to take over the interview. Do your research on the Company and write down questions about areas of concern, ask for their Mission Statement, what is their 5 year plan and beyond, and most importantly, what are their expectations for the person filling this position and ask for specifics. They need to understand without you coming right out and saying it, this s not only about their future, but your future and expectations. If this is done Professionally and with Humility, only the Companies that are not good it for you, will respond negatively. The Company you want to work for is the one that appreciates you're research and confidence in not only what they have to offer you, but most importantly how your experience and skill set will benefit them from the get go. I've spent this much time on responding because to many great, qualified, candidates are allowing a system they have no control over, begin to deteriorate their own value. If you don't take back your power and abilities, you'll end up working for a Temp agency that just doesn't provide positions other than lower level.

4 hours and you're frustrated about no calls...?
Most double that everyday for four months before a response. I hope you can be strong enough to see this through.

Crystal, It is pretty sucky! But look at it from a different perspective at least you have your daughter. You have your health and you have the ability to fill out applications. You may be in for a rude awakening as it only was 4 hours. Some here go for years. If you want to start a business, basically home based consulting I would be happy to assist you at no cost.
