
WHAT went wrong?!!!
Last week I came out of an interview so happy with how it went. I nailed it! I didn't think it could have gone better, but then they said they weren't interested in hiring me. At first I was mad, so I asked em WHY not?? The woman on the phone just said they were moving in another direction. Ugh, I hate that!!! I wanted some feedback or at least a REAL reason for why they didn't hire me. I dressed professionally, had copies of my resume, smiled, was polite, answered all of their questions, so now I am sitting here racking my brain wondering......what went wrong???? Any thoughts?

Sometimes you can do all the right thing, but you are playing in the wrong field, in other words, they already had someone they wanted that they knew. The interviews are just a formality. It happens a lot.

Wow I know how you FEEL , pray on it MAYBE that WASN'T the job for YOU.

Even if you was the best candidate, sometimes human nature or faults stir the hiring manager to select the attractive blond or maybe they thought you was too qualified and you will leave for a better position. In the past, I have interviewed where it was 3 positions available and they only had 2 candidates interviewing. And I still don't get the job. It's always some BS like they looking for a more junior candidate or I'm not the right fit. It's not always you, some of these hiring managers dont always hire the best candidate. Maybe you should dye your hair blond...Lol

There's candidates that immediately have a thank you letter pre-written, stamped and ready to be mailed each interview. I became aware of this while taking an adult job hunting course. If you have any time take a course, a few hours once a week.

I have been a nurse for years. I have went through the same thing. When you have a lot of experience it is a threat to some of them. Good luck.

It is not necessarily that you did anything "wrong", perhaps someone else just had more of what they were looking for. No matter how well you think the interview went, it's never a guarantee that you were what the company was looking for. Just stay positive and move forward, don't let yourself dwell on this one interview. Good luck!

They probably just wanted to get several appt for a back up position and would call you if they need someone. They used to hire people before in case dome got sick and pay 10 to 20 hrs a week and tell you they were trying to more hrs. It's the digital age know. They look at thier computer to tell them how to think and what to do. I call it walking zombies. It was a article I was suppose to do in college. But this really reminds me of what's going on. Temp services filled in the gap. Employers then can pick whatever and whoever they want. Leaving you out to dry as they say. Most of us don't look at the whole picture. It's all about them and if you temporarily fix in the box they use you but when you don't they get rid of you. It's a form of discrimination but the government doesn't fight anymore for this issue it's busy fixing yesterday blunders. We need to stop Markus and just let things reset and go back to the way it should be. Stop all these stores that sell you products from overseas and start marketing america again. We need to take the power away from corperate america and create a better working environment that cover all individuals not just a lucky few. Letting corperate know there will be a ceiling per say and we don't need to 20,000 employees at one location we need 2000 employees at 10 locations. Giving the ability for things to grow not blow up when it fails. Stop the new woman God complex and start getting back to fundamentals that made this a great country. Send back all refugee and let them know they can come back after we have room for them. If we can't feed our people then how can we feed other people. They say that refugees are taking our low pay jobs no one will do. I have been on a lot of crappy jobs in my life time and to watch a person from another country come over and get a house, nice car and have a better job than me is just crap. Half of the time they can't even speakbfluent English making it real difficult to understand. So like I say they need to start all over with term limits on Congress all the way down and fe establish what's good in america bydown sizing corperate america and big pharmacies and goverment. These are the people making the decisions to hire or fire you it's my the interviewer. They just tell them to get 4 or 22 more people. We have a big order need more people. example, we need to do like the unions did and just say no and after a shaft time period they will either go brake or we will all win. So the next time they waste your time at a interview and tell you so be just call in and let them know you are a good worker. Notice how most jobs are minimum wage. Hey say they start you at this rate but really if 5hey paid you what they are suppose to they could only hire one or two workers but this way they get 4 to 5 workers and pay no benefits / ie health care that they paid in the past along with retirement and a pension. People are quote living longer but really have no real reason to. This is all done by greed and blown up egos.what a waste of our time I say.

Make sure to ask them some good questions during the interview as well as answering theirs.
Sometimes the interview is just a formality, and they already had someone in mind. It happens all the time. Someone who works there trying to move up, a friend of a coworker, a relative, etc.. it does happen. But as someone else said " it's not personal " just keep trying.
