Bumming

My life is in turmoil since January 23, 2018, I work for a mayor Financial institution for 19 year. I was told to be on a conference call do not be late, so I call in along with 48 peers we were told that our jobs were being sent overseas. That were being demoted and would keep our pay for a year and then would take 35% cut in pay to keep my job. See what loyalty get you kicked.

I am in the same spot, Aileene. Its been over a year, misconduct BS over nothing. No unemployment benefits, but you what I am moving on as independent associate for a Financial Business. The communication is nice from happy faces and no BS when walk through the door mornings during the week or Saturdays. No paycheck yet, after 2 weeks but looking for a big payday after some hard work, and I'm sure I"ll be rewarded. Keep your head up. And folks who responded with job possibilities for me personally, thank you very much for your help. Keep them coming, I appreciate it.

There is no loyalty when the bottom line for a company is dollars. My loyalty is payday to payday

Julie: Question that comes to mind is: Are all the people who had their jobs go overseas at over 40? 55? 65?

If any of the workers are in these age brackets, then the company was eliminating jobs because they want to cut have to reserve for your pension plan. Or if you are converting to a 401(k) or a 403 account, they don't want to match for the your income to set aside for the replacement of a pension plan. You get hurt two ways and you end up losing your jobs, if you don't or can't follow the job to Viet Nam or the Philippines or some other Asian country. I would say to take your pension and hope it is funded correctly, so you can get the correct amount of income out of it now and force the company to pay out over the next 60 years.

Julie, I can relate as I was in medical coding for 16 years and due multiple acquisitions and overlay I was relieved of my job. That said, I have a few new things working right now and would love to share them with you.

Unfortunately, this seems to be a trend. At least you were given notice. While you still have your current salary, start looking now for a new job. Although it is hard emotionally, try to remain positive.

This is indeed unfortunate, but the bright side is that you have a year at your current income to find another job! Get Going! I just finally found something after looking for over 2 years, and I lost my job completely before I was able to secure something else. Don't wait--get that resume updated! And Good Luck!

On a positive note, at least they gave you a warning, so that you can look for something while you still have a Job.. Sadly, this is a sign of the Times we live in.. The Holy Scripture at 2nd Timothy 3:1-5 say; Critical times hard to deal with, ( as our society becomes more) Unthankful, Disloyal, with No natural affection.. More and more Employers these days are trying to find ways to cut cost..
