Over worked

I recently was given a promotion to an assistant manager and moved to another store. One of the managers from my other store had medical emergency and I was needed. I worked ten days at my other store had one day off then another ten days on. Now my store manager is out for surgery and both of my other assistant managers come in early in the morning so there is no coverage for me if I need to call in. I just had a death in the family and have not had one day to mourn since then is this fair or even legal.

Stuart legally if this was an immediate family member they have to give you bereavement time off no matter what the coverage in the stories you need to speak to your area manager no waste time talking to the other managers I hope this helps my condolences for your loss

Hi Stuart,

Congratulations on your promotion - but I am so sorry to hear about your loss. If I were you, I would speak to your two assistant managers and explain to them that you have just had this loss in your family, and need them to cover for you during this time. Odds are they will be understanding during this time and be able to cover you so you can take some time off to grieve.

It is certainly not a fair situation you are in, but I'm not sure about the legality. I'd imagine it isn't illegal, but it is certainly a poor situation. I hope your assistant managers are going to be helpful to you during this time.

Don't forget the Jobcase community is here for you!
