Should all jobs have a termination policy
Ok so my family member was offered a job ,and went to work for a couple days and got sick one day and couldn't call before her shift started because the ambulance came and got her. The job called and said she was terminated and to return all job items received. When she went to turn the items in she saw others who were also terminated for the same reason but was able to go to another site,so being that she wants to work she asked could she go to another site. The manager told her when a position becomes open she is able to be put at another site but there were no openings at no site. So she sat in the office and watched about ten different people get offered a position at the sites the manager just said there wasn't any openings. So she goes back to talk to the manager to ask is there a policy on termination because now she is thinking she's being neglected and obviously after you get terminated you can't get offered at another site since she was told there wasn't any availability at no sites. So the question is what do she do in this situation and should there be a policy on termination?

She should have a note from the Dr at the hospital and take it to HR

The company I work for won't fire you until you don't call in for three days they should at least give you a chance to explain their policy sucks

Yes I think all companies should have a policy on grounds for termination l believe without one they can make up anything just to fire you which most companies do that now make up things just to fire you

There is nothing you can do in a rite to work state . I was let go for no reason just before Christmas . I think it's wrong

I really don't know what to tell you. I'm sorry that happened to her the way it did. Is she able to take a work from home position where she could do a customer service type position working from the comfort of her home? If so, message Ashley Wilson she would be able to give you a list of companies that hire someone to work for them online from home. The person your aunt spoke with should have told her if they needed a medical release because that just came to mind to me since she was taken to the emergency room from home by ambulance. The company might have been apprehensive about sending her out so quickly to another job site because of what happened with the medical emergency, but they should have taken her aside and discussed this with her to let her know if they needed a medical release form from the doctor or if they wanted to place her on light duty or if they were letting her go altogether period.

There are unforeseen circumstances and I really don't know how some employers sleep at night.

Yes, no call no show is probably the reason..

Companies are mostly AT-WILL employers. Which means they can terminate you with or without cause. The laws concerning this practice need to be changed.

Nearly all companies i have worked for have termination policy.
When she knew she wasn't feeling well and wasn't going to be able to make to work she should have went to the neighbors to call or simply had the hospital or ambulance call for her as soon as she knew she wasn't feeling well and came with an excuse
