How can I step into investment banking's door?

I want to work for investment banking. I'm smart, have analytical skills, hard working. Just my university is not one of the investment banking's target school.

When I wanted to go into Investment Banking with a Double Major Undergraduate BA in Economics, BA in International Management & Masters In International Management, I was told that I had to go into Commercial Banking First to gain Commercial & International Banking Experience., Which I did, Domestic Commercial Banking and then International Management Operations. When I applied for Investment Banking I was told that I should have gone into Investment Banking First. If I had not gone into Investment Banking First, then I really did not know what I was doing and did not belong in Investment Banking....!!!! I have since consulted for Merril Lynch NYHQ, Mid West Clearing Chicago Exchange, PSE Pacific Stock Exchange, JPMC NYHQ, The Commonwealth Bank, Sydney, Australia, The ISH Bankie, Istanbul, Turkie,...but never in Investment Banking,,, Gerard JC LaTournerie

Great question, Emily! The best way is to seek an internship is to identify local companies that specialize in investment banking and see if you'd be able to schedule an informational interview with them. Not only will this provide you more insight into the industry, but it also makes them aware that you're looking for opportunities!
