Down to the wire!!!
At 56 years old, I have been unemployed for close to two years now. I have three months of benefits left, with over 38 years experience working as certified welder you would think employers would be interested. I have a solid resume with extensive references, but I can't even get a call back. But the most frustrating part is, reading about the high demand for welders. If this is true I certainly haven't reaped the rewards. I'm convinced that my resume is reviewed them gets tossed into the golden oldies pile. Scott McGraw Erie PA.

Bless him in his Holy name Amen.... you have your job

I'm 66 retired as an aircraft mechanic, got tired of doing nothing, got hired as a custodian at the army base exchange store, kept looking for a job as a mechanic and went to some interview with Boeing and just got a call with an offer, you got to keep on trying, most young dudes don't have our work ethics, maybe you can start your own thing, good luck.

Hello , I saw your post and I'm willing to offer you a job. Inbox me your digits and let's discuss about the job

Hello, Scott, Welcome to the club. I am 59 years old and was just recently hired for CSR work at a phone center. Right now I'm in training and I am the oldest person in the class by easily 10 years. Prior to that, I was out of work for 10 months before I landed a position. Now I do live in a very rural area, but even after expanding my search area to a 80 mile radius to include up to four local cities, though it offered more opportunities, it also was probably expanding my fuel budget as well, obviously. I know the jobs are out there, but in the larger cities, and not where I live. I did start up my own business, but though it pays well, it is inconsistent to the point where I could starve nicely on it alone. Age is indeed a factor, regardless of your credentials and/or experience, sadly. if you live in a union state, perhaps you could sign up with them and they could hunt for you as well. If not, check into the possibilities of starting up your own welding service. It may not spring up into Trump Enterprises over night, but it might help with some extra money to help out. You could also look into being a welding instructor locally. I hope this all helps.
56? I think actor, GEORGE CLOONEY, is 56-57? If CLOONEY wants to be a RELIABLE WELDER Impersonation, perhaps, YOU could offer to be, CLOONEY's under-study?!:-).
