Very confused
Hello Everyone! I'm in a predicament. I have been a nurse for 25yrs. However, my most recent experience is working for insurance companies. I decided to go back to working hands on and I got a job working for an Ind who is very sick and his care is really extensive. Well, my nursing skills are a,little rusty and I had an interview on Friday and started. work the very next day. NO orientation or training and I actually worked 22 hrs straight. Now the bosses are saying I'm not a w fit. Im so upset about this and just need some advice. If you guys could help me out with this I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you

Well that work hour scheduled is pretty hard on you dear friend nurse be patient your employer may soon realise it and make some adjustment on your favor.

Hello Donna I believe when situations happen like this you just rethink the part not taking any others responsibility except your own and continue ,I just received a case for a kiddo and last week the mom requested someone w more training ,I enjoyed the kid but the mom wanted someone w more experience I understand this ,so its off to my next case and learn what I can't control and do what I love to do ,have faith and just do the best you can w what your working with ,everything always works in Gods way ,sometimes we just have to move out of his way

I would take up some classes in your spare time since u said u r a little rusty, just so you remember and you're more confident in your job, then they won't say anything.

Ive worked in healthcare for along time & seen alot both cna's & nurseing. I can tell you our job is not easy but if you keep the faith always you will see when one door closes another one opens.

I started nursing back in the day of Florence Nightengale...not really. That aside, as long as you were upfront with your employer, you should not have been thrown into this position where the welfare of the patient is at risk. Every agency and facility owes you AND the patient an orientation. One of my pet peeves with nursing is that while the turnover and need is huge, eating their own young is still a common practice. Knowing you were "rusty", they had an obligation to make sure you had the skill set to manage the patient. It sounds like they had nobody to take on this challenge and you were in the wrong place at the right time. Nothing worse than feeling overwhelmed when you are responsible for someone's care. I would look for another agency or facility and consider working for an organization that supports professional development.

If you haven't the sense to say "I need to leave" after 12 hours, you're not a good fit. If you really want to be a nurse, got to online training and obtain at LEAST your bachelors degree and preferably your Masters. They will be begging you to come work for them .

I am truly sorry for your hardship. Don't let this discourage you. It sounds as the company itself is the one who should feel awful. Obviously, this is not where the good Lord needs you and your skills. Keep a positive attitude, and you will be guided to your rightful destination. Smile.

Don't give up hope!... That job was too demanding anyway.. Working 22 hours a day is insane.. Its not good physically nor mentally.. A patient with that much care doesn't need a nurse.. He should be hooked up to a machine on life support! . There's o the her jobs out there... Always keep your resume handy.... Jobs are opening all over the place in every field.. That's because Mr. Trump has the job stealing immigrants on the run!

Find out were you a vacation fill in
