"What is some advice you would give to someone who is looking to get a customer service or retail job, today?"
"Job hunting in retail definitely takes patience - sometimes it takes a while to get a response. One store I know took two months to get a response from! Other stores can be really quick - it all depends on the availability, what they need, and how quickly they need it filled." - Ashley Nadeau (https://www.jobcase.com/p/ashley.nadeau1)

Im looking into retail cause of the person I am. Very much a people poison. I am a courier full time n work weekends at a bp service station. Have made lots of friends n they all keep coming back. To talk n visit with me, Michael J.Barnes

It depends what you mean by customer service. Are you looking to work on the floor as a salesperson on the floor or on the phone. If it's on the sales floor, starting out part time is what you will get. Very few retail jobs are full time. If you want to be on the phones, you will need patience (lots of it) empathy. Most customers that call in are not happy so be prepared to be mentally beaten up all day.

Thanks Ashley for your good advice and for sharing your experience in retail.
Smile. Positive tone of voice. Give examples how you have been helpful in the past. That can be through other jobs or service related groups through school or church.
