Differences btwn Marriott chains?
Hey guys, great to see everyone here on Jobcase! Quick question - I’m considering applying for a Marriott front desk position, but there are SO many different types of Marriott hotels that I’m honestly a little confused. Are there differences between the different Marriott hotels? Is one better to work for than another?

Everyone pretty much summarized answers to your question. I can also tel you that they have a great corporate culture. I was in New Orleans after Katrina and they not only put me and the Red Cross up for free, but also Marriott employees whose homes were damaged or destroyed. Good luck!

Martha everybody is right they're all basically the same and owned by different people, corporations just make sure you read the reviews from the employees. I have been trying to get a job at the Marriott in Delaware so good luck.

Each Marriott sub-brand is targeted at a different type of traveler. Some are aimed at younger (Millennial) business travelers, others at families on a budget, and others at high-end, luxury vacationers. Jay Bradshaw has a very good point; they probably all use the same systems - everything from IT to accounting to marketing to management. I'd bet, though, that the pay might be slightly better at the higher-end brands, but only slightly. Good luck, and keep us posted!

They are all pretty much the same. A few brand differences but all use the same PMS system

I believe it is only the size of the hotel. I have during business travel stayed at Marriott and its a great hotel to stay as a guest. I would contact a local one and talk to someone who works for the company to find out or do a search on line. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

Marriott chains are sister companies so pretty much the same, except some might be smaller in size than others. In order for you apply to any Marriott it's the same process. As far as price to stay for guest, the price will differ.
Yes, there are definitely differences in the various chains for Marriott Hotels. If you go to Wikipedia, it describes the corporate structure and brief summaries of each level and the various chains. They offer high end to lower mid-level as well as extended stay chains. From there, you can do more research on specific chains in your area and see what is available.
