INTERVIEWS: (No. #4. Mistakes To Avoid) Attitudes.

THE WRONG ATTITUDE, CAN DAMAGE YOUR GRATITUDE!

THIS IS A MUST READ!!!!

Kevinne is still having a hard-time accepting the fact that he applied over 85 times and fallen-short at many interviews. Why?

Assuming he did many things right; What happened in this case? Apparently, they asked him; Would you be willing to work as an IT Assistant, perhaps for 4 to 6 months, instead of the Sr. Enterprise Architect while we sorted things out in the IT Department?

Instead of being cooperative with the board members who thoroughly reviewed his resume in advance, he displayed a “sense of arrogance” and mentioned his B.S. in Computer Engineering Technology from XYZ and a M.S. of Science in System Engineering and graduated with honors.

LESSONS LEARNED: Don't ever display a “chip on your shoulder” or an “attitude” of superiority if asked to fill-in at a lower position. If so, your attitude can give the board members the “latitude” not to work things in your favor.

TURNKEY PRINCIPLE: Don’t permit your credentials to overshadow your potentials, you could lose out on everything.

You can do this, right?

I Believe You Can…!

I don't understand why I should not let an employer know that I'm overqualified for a job but I've decided to take it because the job description fits every aspect of my accomplishments. I'm not asking for more money or for a higher position. By the same token I don't want the team to think because I've taken on a lower position, I should be belittled. After all, I'd be there exhibiting my full potential.

I can agree that having a chip on your shoulder can limit your opportunities. However we all have to know our worth. If you’re qualified for a higher position then you shouldn’t settle for less than your worth. In my opinion settling gives a sense of worthlessness.

I love this Edward Alexander ! Having a chip on your shoulder NEVER does anyone any favors. It's important as Edward said to know that you shouldn't act better or superior to someone else. Where is the benefit in that? No one likes a jerk right? ; )
