First, don't worry about what hasn't happened and worry about what HAS happened. File for your unemployment compensation; be completely honest about your circumstances. In most states an employer can release a worker for any (or no) reason however many states also have the "hostile workplace" rule and termination or voluntary separation under those circumstances is grounds for compensation. Again, I gotta be honest. Ya probably didn't do anything wrong other than stay with one organization for more than 5 years. Even if you are the guy who empties the spittoons, the fact that you have been with the company more than a decade means you are a well compensated spittoon cleaner. Corporate loyalty and longevity is no longer in the average worker's favor when you can be quite cheaply replaced by two (or three) part time students who don't require your full compensation package. It's a dang shame what CEO's perpetrate in the name of business need and seven figure bonuses. Get your resume together and start the application process. You can quite quickly land a seasonal position immediately and still qualify for partial unemployment and subsidized health insurance. While you are waiting for the perfect employer to knock on your door, take some "me" time to relax and regroup. We here in this community are available to you should you feel the need to vent or require some verbal encouragement. I wish you well.

You will qualify for unemployment!

Did you mention what state you're in,because different states have different laws. You shouldn't need a lawyer for your appeal to start

Why do you think you would be denied unemployment if you were fired?
I guarantee you’ll be approved! Keep your head up
