Business Casual...help!!
What does business casual mean to you? Does it depend on the interview or the profession you are in?? I'm not sure what it means exactly and would love advice!!

I usually will wear a pair of khaki pants and a wrinkle free button shirt for business casual. Plus dress socks and dress shoes. No sneakers unless you have to walk to the job. Like in my case sometimes I do mystery shopping and have to walk a mile or more so my sneakers which are like new really help. Who looks at someone's shoes anyways?

Thank you - this has helped me a ton!

Alyson, A contributor to Forbes asked her Facebook friends to define business casual and found an apparent consensus on "For men: trousers/khakis and a shirt with a collar. For women: trousers/knee-length skirt and a blouse or shirt with a collar. No jeans. No athletic wear." So basically it a form of dress code. (source:https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_casual)
Business casual is a term you'll hear a lot in college, especially as you start prepping for job interviews and a future career. But business casual for women can be a tricky term, and a lot of us are doing it all wrong! Hope this helps in your understanding of Business Casual https://youtu.be/OeU4oLNvVjk

"Business Attire" outside of typical solid suits and collared shirts; Blouses with prints, dress pants or skirts in a color rather than black-navy-khaki.

Business Casual has many meanings and does depend on the environment, job type title.
Some people take this to another level.
My two cents and what have always told my employees when deciding on the outfit if you were required at the last minute to attend a meeting would your attire be acceptable.
For some business casual is I just don't care today - wrinkled shirt, jeans, flip flops, hats
Spandex, tshirts with saying and logos.
when you are informed of business casual it also is normally explained what is unacceptable. Example: No torn or tattered jeans No shorts No visable under garments No flip-flops No workout gear No sweat suits No offensive tshirts
I would say if possible purchase intentional business casual items:
- Denim suit (Dress with matching jacket) (skirt with jacket) (Pants with jacket)
- Dark Denim - White Shirt
- Denim Dress
- Denim Skirt (not mini)
- Denim Maxi dress
- Denim Capri Pants
I hope that this is helpful again first see what your employee handbook states and then decide that you don't want to do what everyone else does you still want to standout. If you went to work you should look like you went to work. Dress for the job you want not the job you have.

Slacks of the dress code colors and like a button up shirt or a nice looking shirt. Absolutely no jeans. Along with a pair of like loafers. .. no heals... in my opinion

I think this is professional varies between positions and places of employment. For instance myself I work in food service industry and kitchen so business casual would mean a T-shirt and jeans where someone that works at a bank business casual might mean a polo and khakis and a polo and nicer looking Jean professional looking a dark wash and for women it might mean a nicer v-neck t-shirt that could be paired with a small jacket maybe a nice pair of jeans or chinos.
