In need of advice

Ok so where to start I was let got at my job due to no growth so they said ... I was told I could stay at my job for 30 to 60 days and look for another from hr. I went to a hiring manager vice President of operation he proceeded to tell me the same thing as hr the following day after having a meeting with both the vice president felt it wasn't fair for me to stay while trying to find another job they offered me 30 days severance pay and I could leave then or finish out the week. I left that day he agreeded to give me a letter of recommendation which he did give to me stating due to unforseen circumstances the position was terminated. So after the 30 days I filed for unemployment benefits. My employer then claimed they fired me due to willful misconduct I was never verbally or written up for anything. They accused me of taking a check that was missing to an employee which was accounts receivable instead of taking it to hr..my normal protocol is make copy of checks and give to accounts receivable then they said I delete contact from previous employee I never had contact from previous employee when I started. I have a appeal hearing schedule. I feel I was wrongfully terminated and over all lied to. Do you think I can win this appeal with the letter of recommendation and what they told me when they let me go.

I would definitely take the recommendation letter as well as the check stubs especially if they clearly prove severance pay. Employers usually don't provide severance pay for termination due to misconduct. I went through the appeal process before but I live in Michigan and it was a long process, mines took a total of 8 months but I did win. Hopefully yours is resolved the first time. Good luck

Hi there Ms. Holly, you might do better to just leave these people alone. Just take the unemployment pay and start moving on towards the new job. The 2 to 3 yrs of hearing request and delays, and no shows are endless possibilities of no results. You're better than that. I worked at a hospital here in my state where the patient told my boss that she didn't feel comfortable with her mother being attended by a black male. I was paid, told to use my benefits for 60 days and released. All I did was apply for new jobs and was hired in 3 weeks. See you've got no idea why you were singled out. I know why I was singled out. Yes even in progressive Atlanta things happen. Just screw them and move on. To think that a black male vs having a white male makes a difference in 2017.... We've got a lot of growing up still left to do. Join me in moving forward. That particular thing happened to me in 2014 my past. You to can make this your past... You're better than this....

Insurance Claims Representative

Companies used to issue what was referred to as a "pink slip" document that defined the root cause for separation of employment. Employees would then take that doc over to the unemployment office to file a claim. I’m not sure a recommendation letter will serve or be enough to help make a case during an appeal.

Did they offer you a 30 day compensation package without signing an agreement? That’s odd. Call the Unemployment agency and ask for an appeal.
