Value of an Education
Why don’t employers place any value on a college education anymore? My Bachelor’s degree hasn’t opened a single door for an employment opportunity for me since I received it last summer. All the jobs in my field require 2+ years of experience but shouldn’t my internship also count as count as work experience? All the other jobs openings around here are in call center service or warehouse paying minimum wage at best. What ever happened to getting a leg up on more jobs opportunities and better pay with a college education?

An internship should definitely count! Do you have it listed as work experience on your resume?

Mr. Williams I'm not so sure that any student placement should count for experience. Follow me closely here.... When I was in university most of my friends were business administration, business and economic, and business and according majors. They did PAID intern work for one full semester at IBM, XEROX, HP, and PANASONIC... And received 3 full credit hrs. towards graduation. Now these people got regular pay and gained real company experience. Other majors like Social Work, Music Education, Elementary Education....etc... don't gain the same benefits on student placement. This practice kinda tapered off after a few yrs and large companies didn't take as many student trainees. Lets go foward now...... First we don't know what your degree is in.... Next we have no idea what type of job you are looking for.... Last in what state do you live in. Do you see now just by my questions why student placement don't fully make you ready for the job market?? Think about what would happen if you were a new truck driver in Las Vegas in that traffic or Dallas. Now come back and fill in the blanks for us.... Then we can start to help you. Relax Mr. Williams your degree counts just by the fact that YOU EARNED IT!!!!!
