HR Manager

Need your suggestions. I am a "Senior" - 30 years HRM experience. When going into an interview (Have 1 this week), I am tempted to talk to the elephant in the room (age) and address concerns up front. What would you do and how ? Can you give me some pointers? Much appreciated!

I think the biggest concern that one experiences immediately as an older applicant is the ability to accept being interviewed by someone literally half your age. Believe me judgements on ether end will be made but you have to be cautious not to come across as too defensive if you want to bring up your age.

Culture fit, affordability, longevity are common issues that turn managers away fro seasoned applicants. You should go about addressing you concerns in a round about or indirect way as not to raise any flags or give an impression of defense.

During the interview that got me hired for the job I have now i used words like "open for negotiation with salary", "open to flexibility and change", "open to learn new skills", and "technically savvy". My goal was to touch on key points without making it sound like they're areas for concern. Hope this helps. Good Luck with your interview. Hoping to hear good news from you soon.
