Telecommute/Remote Jobs

I wonder if you all have considered FlexJobs. I too am facing age discrimination. To further my career I believe I would need to finish my education towards an engineering or architectural degree. I have a degree in accounting and one in web design, associates. Unfortunately, during our last administration, the market was flooded with accountants. I live in an are where the closest university is 70 miles from my home. I have a full time job, but it isn't satisfactory enough to want to stay until or if I ever retire. Hence the need to finish my degree program. My problem is that I don't want to drive 140 miles a day after working 8 hours. I used to 10 years ago, but I am going to be 56 in a couple of months and I was in an accident for the second time in 4 years that left my car totalled. I live on the great lakes so I will always have winter weather. I fear driving in bad weather. I signed up with flexjobs and my indeed alert is for remote jobs. I applied for jobs near the schools with the plan for relocating and I get 0 responses. 0. Companies outside of my profession respond but not the "professionals". So I am assuming it is my age. FlexJobs asks for a small monthly fee. Indeed is free and I have gotten contact work through Craigslist. I am a Draftsmen with an associates in architecture and 20 years experience in Civil drafting. I don't have the greatest record, I am female and 55 years old. I made poor choices concerning opportunities so I feel that I didn't plan as well for old age as I should have. But, I regained my optimism from looking through the remote jobs today that came to my email. I applied for jobs on FlexJobs and was told by a company I am very interested in, that I was turned down Only because I am not available during their business hours. Many companies want you home working during normal business hours. I'm not complaining on here, I just thought that some of you should try FlexJobs. They don't have the age barriers. Or at least I never felt they do. Gosh, I have seen jobs for English teachers requiring no experience. Just keep your head up. Trust I know it's difficult at times. I work in the building industry and it came to a halt completely during the housing market crash. Just keep trying. And go for the long shots.

I have heard lots of great things about FlexJobs but I was unaware they charge a fee for membership. Good to know, thank you.
