Are you going to let others dictate what you can and cannot do?
Kathrine Switzer did not.
Kathrine was the first woman to run the Boston Marathon at a time when women were not allowed to run. I love this shot. Is there any question of the opposition she faced? Look how many people she battled just to get started. And she prevailed!
There are ALWAYS people, institutions, obstacles in the way of what you want to achieve. There is no sense complaining or worrying about that. The question is - do you battle through it, or succumb to it?
Katherine finished this race. Then she ran 7 more times over the next decade or so, in Boston Marathons that women were welcomed to run in - because she fought through when she was unwelcome! What are you gonna fight through? Strengthen your resolve - you can do it too!

As cool as stories like this are, they are just that - stories. Employers don't give a rat about your motivation of volunteering time or any thing non paycheck related UNLESS you're a fresh out of college debt laden kid they can push around. Note what these stories can do is motivated for entrepreneurship.

Oh I love that. I find this to be inspiring because I've had this problem more times than I care to remember. I've always been a pull yourself up from your bootstraps kind of girl because that's how I was raised. I don't let ANYONE dictate to me what I can or cannot do. I can handle my own my life and my own accomplishments by myself. All I ask in return is to show full support from the people I care about and who really care about me.
Real men are not intimidated by a strong overachieving women lol they're so busy trying to thwart her progress that she is the only one focused running the race... too funny!
