Training A Replacement

I am being laid off because of financial reasons and being asked to train another employee for the next 2 weeks. Is there something wrong with this or am I just being overly sensetive?

I find something inherently perverse about being let go for "financial" reasons and at the same time training your replacement! WTF

No you're not. I experienced the same thing. The exception was I was let go after I trained several new hires. I was told I was too sensitive on my claim calls and that I needed to stick to the script that was given me. Well that was hard when receiving calls such as a mother reporting that her son was just killed in an accident on his birthday on his way home from work. After 7 years and a wall full of appreciation letters I was let go by "new management".

KIND OF SOUNDS LIKE A COMPLIMENT TO YOU TO TRAIN ANOTHER FOR TWO WEEKS. IS THAT UNTIL YOU GET A GRIP ON YOUR FINANCES, MEANING A TEMPORARY LAYOFF. I WOULDN'T TAKE IT TO PERSONAL. IF THIS ISN'T THE CASE, WELL SAY ADIOS. WHAT THEY'RE DOING IS MAY BE TESTING YOU.

Well the good book (bible) says if you are slap on your chick there's no need to fight back just turn to the other chick or if you are told to go a mile well, just go 2miles. Everything has a reason but so long as your conscious is clear never fear at all. God has the best for you. Am sure!!!

Hello Cheryl, I have never been in this situation before ,but i find it very disrespectful when you are being let go and expected to train your replacement. If you are good enough to train when you are being replaced, you should be good enough to keep employed and be promoted to trainer.

Cheryl .. I do clearly understand your concerns. And, if it were me in your position, I too would have unsavory thoughts and feelings about training my replacement. But, I think you should be careful about your decision. How would you like to be remembered. The answer to that question could be a determining factor, if your employer needs to rehire or hire someone like yourself. Ultimately, it's your call. ...VKL

I was outsourced and offered a really good severance if I stayed on for three months and trained the outsourcing company in my job duties. After 25 years with the company it was a nice slap in the face.
