Ever felt overlooked because you don’t have a Bachelor’s degree? I've been there too, but let's change that narrative together by highlighting the incredible pool of talent we represent.

As part of the 70+ million strong community in our country, we've honed skills through diverse paths—be it hands-on experience, military service, community college, apprenticeships, or other unconventional routes. At Opportunity@Work, we proudly call ourselves STARs (people Skilled Through Alternative Routes)!

Get ready to be amazed by stories of fellow STARs like LaShana, Cindy or Benny, whose journey resonated deeply with me. Their triumphs in the job market showcase our collective potential.

Your story matters! Share below. Let's illuminate the path for each other!

People with bachelor's degrees are overlooked as well. We are often told we are overqualified. Sometimes I think employers will say anything, whether it is applicable or not,to an applicant. Most people with high school degrees and most certainly college grads are very intelligent, disciplined, capable and very accomplished/trained. Getting the brush off is very unprofessional and you cannot demean yourself just because someone else is trying to

I have a MBA - concentration in finance. My Bachelors was in Organizational Management - concentration in HR. I do not feel that my hard work and time in school has ever helped me. It really is disheartening I do not believe that I would change anything though, going to college taught me discipline. I have been out of work since June 2022. I quit my job to take care of my ill husband. He passed away in April 2023. I started looking for work at the first of June 2023. I start a new job tomorrow, making $14 an hour. I am amazed.
