The toughest part about landing a job right now is...
The employers. They are holding out because they want to screen and secure whom they prefer and doing this under the cover of COVID-19. Offering 'bottom of the barrel' job postings ($11-19/hr) when the majority of professionals like myself are past 'high school wages' and need our skills commensurate with proper pay.

I think that, for the most part, employers are fair and want to pay competitive wages. We have to remember that there is so much more that goes into a new hire besides that of pay. An employer may pay a particular amount but the cost of advertising for that position, the cost incurred by training, and other things such as what they themselves lost with the shutdown and paying federal and state taxes is not cheap.

Employers are exploiting the current situation by offering well qualified professionals low wages.Do not give up because there is hope and your job is waiting for you.It is not every unemployed person is able to receive unemployment benefits. And I hope that if you are unemployed you can be sustained while waiting to be employed.

Employers generally want someone that's a good fit and has the skills they want.
Around here, $19 an hour is not "bottom of the barrel" or "high school wages". But employers need to also realize that if they pay too low, then as soon as the economy improves (and it already is starting to) people will leave to get a better paying job.
