Does anyone know why it takes approximately 8 weeks to get employed by the USPS, after your application has been accepted?

My initilal response would be: Paperwork & red tape? But given your circumstances, something seems off. I would keep in pursuit with a possitive attitude. Blessings!

Good Morning Una, You mentioned that your application was accepted but have you been contacted via email for an assessment and/or interview? If so, who did you interview with and what instructions did they give you after the interview? The online application is the 1st step but it's usually followed up with an assessment test and interview before the background & Drug screen. The only contact USPS has with applicant is via email. Here's a hiring process document I found the USPS website with some info that may help clear things up for you. If you applied to a nearby location it wouldn't hurt to stop in and ask to speak to a supervisor about your employment interest. It might help expedite your app. through their process, see https://about.usps.com/careers/job-application/usps-selection-process.pdf

Hi Una: Happy to help answer your question! A big part of it is that they have to run background checks on their applicants. This can take a long time, especially if you've lived in another state. Another reason is that they might have a certain start date they'd like you to stick to, and that might be a few weeks ahead of time. Either way, focus on the positive here - you got the job!
