Preparing for a Layoff
There’s been some rumors at work about downsizing and cutbacks because business has been slow. I have never been laid off before but people tell me it’s usually immediate and unexpected. I’m not sure what to expect or how to prepare. Should I start looking for a new job now?

Hi Corey, Hopefully the layoffs don't take place, but you should never take a chance with your career. It's always best to be prepared in case something happens. I would suggest updating your resume and to start looking to see what is available in the market. You may come across something that you like even better than your current job and you will be prepared in case the layoffs do take place. I hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions. Good luck! -Mark
Hi Cory, I agree with what Mark suggested below. It cant hurt to polish up your resume and begin a career search if you have worries about being laid off. However, I would just remind you that it could be just a rumor and advise you not to alter your behavior or performance at work because of something you heard. Keep putting your best foot forward in your current position.
