I don't know what to do. I don't do well when it comes to testing. I took a basic test for the county and I didn't pass. Now I have to take a test for the city. I'm seriously nervous. What should I do. Help!

What are you testing for? If there was some thing you can study for the test. Remember to always relax. I understand the test part. I am not all that great at testing either. Try to think it as like an assignment. This way the nerves calm down.

Try to look for practice test so you can see what will be asked. Also, stop being nervous. You have gotten this far in life. Clear your mind completely, Do not think of this as a life or death matter. I have the same anxiety.... I have failed many based on my anxiety. I have learned how to turn off anything and everything around me to focus on the goal. Read thoroughly!!! Most of the time we get wrong answers from not reading the whats being asked of us.

Step 1: stop telling yourself you're not good at something just because you may not have done well in the past. It is self defeating and you're psyching yourself out before attempting the test. Step 2: Look for sample tests to build your confidence. A lot of government tests are available online or in your public library for free. Passing these will build confidence and if you don't pass analyze it unemotionally for target areas of study. Find the weakness and strengthen it. Step 3: Do your best to simulate the testing environment. Make it familiar so you aren't compounding a stressful situation with an unfamiliar environment. use your phone to set a timer if the test is timed.

Combating test anxiety (which is my assumption) requires prep work like taking enough practice exams in a similar environment to create a relaxing atmosphere and building confidence. If your practice identifies and area of weakness, try different learning strategies. We don't all learn the same way so find what works for you. And please stop telling yourself that you can't when you absolutely can. It may take more work because it may not be in your wheelhouse and you may have to approach it differently, but it is about finding what works for you. Learning is very personal and requires you to find how you learn. You got this so go get it.
