Pregnant and desperate

HELP! I currently work for a company where I spend 9-10 on my feet and not allowed any breaks . And yes I mean NO 10-15 minute breaks, NO lunch, NO NOTHING. I work these long hours and not allowed to have food or sit. I am desperate for a new job that I can turn into a career. I have time to train and work. I am not due until April, 2017

Good Morning or Afternoon, First and foremost congrats on your pregnancy. If I was in this position, I would look at the policy and see what it says about breaks during shift hours. It may be an option or a requirement in certain fields so check. Politely bring it to your supervisors attention and hopefully they will accommodate. If you have the time to train and work, start looking for another company and field to be in. Do what is best for you. Good Luck and God bless

very illegal. That's against labor laws sweetie. Don't let them do that to you. Quit and file for unemployment due to the facts you just stated. You cannot work like that.

Oh gosh, I just realized that you're also a certified dental assistant! Here's a link to those jobs too: http://www.jobcase.com/jobs/q-Certified-Dental-Assistant-l-Charlotte,-North-Carolina -- I hope that's helpful!

Hi Sariah! I've worked in a restaurant and I absolutely know how it is when you don't get breaks. This sounds like a terrible situation to find yourself in. I assume you've already tried to talk to management and they haven't been willing or able to help you. You can file a complaint with your local labor board here: http://www.nclabor.com/osha/compliance/complaints/eNCOSH_complaint1a.htm

That said, you probably want to get out of serving because that's not the kindest or healthiest job if you're pregnant! Take a look at job postings available in Charlotte, NC here: https://www.jobcase.com/pub/dir/job-listings/Charlotte-North-Carolina -- there are tons of opportunities! I recommend maybe looking into a front desk position or something administrative, where you could sit and take breaks when needed. Another good place to start might be Customer Service (because a lot of those types of jobs are desk jobs too), here's a list of those positions: http://www.jobcase.com/jobs/q-Customer-Service-Representative-l-Charlotte,-North-Carolina-n-20

I hope that's helpful! And I really hope your situation improves soon!

I agree with Kirk, that's definitely illegal what your employer is doing. I say search for a new job immediately, you don't need to deal with such a toxic environment. What kind of job role are you looking for?
