PCA

My job position at a medical clinic was eliminated after 27 years in 2014 . I was a Data Entry Specialist. I still have a hard time losing my job after all the time has went by. I have been in the medical field for almost 35 years and had trouble finding a new job. I heard EVERY EXCUSE why I wasn't right for positions I applied for. I had to find some kind of work so I went out side my box and became a certified PCA.

I agree with you that you needed to make money and work. NOW GET TO IT and get the job you really want. While you are working on lunch breaks, after hours, all free time must be used to get the job you want. Keep trying, don't give up!!

Ms. Brunko let me try and help you understand what is happening. See the MA...medical assistant...... is the new data entry clerk. We call it Medical Front Office Admin...... Then you got MA Billing and Coding. So every medical assistant is trained to handle both front and back office. Now MA back office is drawing blood, exams done for the doctor and report.... give shots......etc....... So in the medical community your job is gone. You must complete a course of study in school called Medical Front Office Administration. Even that is hard to find a job when you got people like me who can do front and back office medical assistant. Plus radiology and medical lab tech. So I am really sorry about the way it went for you, but you need 9-12 months of class now to earn that $17-$21 hr. Soon OR Tech., Lab Tech., X-ray Tech, and Monitor Tech. will be gone. The MA are already there and doing thoes things.

Well Congratulations on becoming a PCA I also work as a PCA the great part is you can work for a facility, agency and even yourself. Here in Nevada it is in big demand .people want to stay in their homes as long as possible. You can just go up from there. Continue on get your cert as a CNA a Lil bit more money. Then maybe if you feel up to it get Licensed as an LVN all which you can work for someone or yourself. I have done this kind of work for a collective amount of 20 yrs. I enjoy working g with the elderly. They have terrific stories. Views on things that will either make you smile or not. It can be a rewarding experience. I wish you the best of luck. I went with out work for the last yr. Most recently had to make a choice of 5 jobs. I was so excited I wanted to take them all and figure out when I was going to sleep lol I had the erge to do them all to make up for lost time and the bills that have piled up. I have faith. I hope you do to cause when it comes it is going to hit you like crazy . Best of everything

I like when they say certain ways or different ways of telling you your too old,I found out that when not working for two years and will take anything but that anything telling you they will call you and never hear from them or they say the job has been filled.

Sorry about your position being eliminated. It's hard to search again after that many years in the same job. However, I applaud you for adapting your skill set to find a job. Not many people are willing to do that.
