Wrongful Termination/ Retailiation

About a month ago I was let go from my job as Inventory Manager for a children's consignment store. I walked in to work to be greeted and then escorted out by the owner and was told I had to let u go because of pettiness and my gut feeling told me to get rid of you before something bad happens and I can't trust you. I've held keys to the store for that whole time I've worked without any problems. The whole conversation the owner couldn't look me in the eyes and constantly kept rubbing his face. I walked into the job to tell my sister that I will meet her home I was fired and I put my keys into the owners drawer. The week leading to this a co owner in front of the owner that they were hiring teachers assistants at her job and I said my friend is doing that now and that's cool and continued to work. The next day the owner walked me to the stock room to offer me a raise (which he owed me since Jan but complain about budget but hired extra people) he listed my extra jobs which I was currently doing , I asked to change my schedule so I can open the store to prepare it , clean it up fill necessary departments so I will have more time at assist customers. And the night crew can handle the inventory they purchase which would be much and he can utilize his shift managers instead of me wasting hours cleaning their mess and I wouldn't be in this quiet area without security at 11p. At night and I don't drive.(I'm the only person out of 15 working in inventory. ) The next day I gave my hours he agreed and said he had to do the paperwork to make it official and let the staff know. That Friday I shopped at the store on my day off. That Saturday he text me about my hours that I can't have a 9-5 in retail ( I asked for 8-4p) I need to do one evening and one weekend. I've opened and closed on Sundays for a year. He has 10+ employee he never rotated schedules. I mentioned the employee that just went on a summer leave that she had a 9-3 with no evenings or weekends and we share the same responsibilities but she has the code to fill the registers and I never had and I run the store on Sundays. He didn't respond to my text. So I said I pass on the raise and the new schedule.. which meant I would stay with my 1-9 mon-wed. 10-6on Thursday and open to close on Sunday. I text Sunday to find out if we were open on Father's day ...I opened the store ..Cleaned up the mess from Saturday closed the store .. that Monday I was let go. I'm African American.. owner Italian. I've never received any warnings and conversation. My owner was diagnosed with AdHD and has mentioned when he is off from his meds and the staff. Notices when he is not himself and when he has home issues he has acted different towards certain employees. I'm older than my boss and hold myself in a way that he wouldnt disrespect but he has the habit of speaking about employees to other employees... I've reached out to employment attorneys but they say is it's not about Race it's hard to fight.. being let go right before the following week hurt my finances I get paid every two weeks and this has hurt me tremendously.. and I felt like he was getting back at me for not accepting the raise with the schedule he wanted. But my schedule allowed him to go home when he felt like it ..I close the store each night... I just need some direction , is it worth seeking out lost wages.

I truly don't think so. It seems like he didn't trust u from the beginning. He probably was scared that u would have someone do something to the store cuz he took advantage of u! Look on the bright side, u were in management which is good to be able to incorporate within your resume! Just move on and go get the job that God has waiting for u! Blessings!

I don't think it's a case about race, but I do think you still have a case if he was off his meds and acted irrational.
