Jake what else do you want to do? What are you good at? Get out of there Jake and do something you love. Get your resume together and start applying. the fast food experience can transfer into sales, hospitality, hotel, customer service, or other things. All the best to you.

Hi Jake, I empathize with your situation. Sounds like you are stuck and looking for your purpose in life. Stick with the job until you find another is good advice. Ways that you can do that are to check out your local Chamber of Commerce. (they know the new/old businesses in your area that might be looking for employees) Ask to talk to someone that can put you in touch with job fairs and see if there is someone available to help with personal resume building. The sky is the limit if you decide you can take initiative. Be courageous to pick up the phone or speak to someone in person. Never underestimate the power of your hairdresser, either. She/he usually has multiple clients that most likely help your community, flow. If you do not know what you want to do for a career yet, consider talking to temp to hire agency or better yet, remember what you wanted to do when you were a kid...create goals to get to that. When we find what our purpose in life is, the money comes, we play our part and grow into new experiences we came to have. Good luck with your journey, it will be awesome! intuitlife.com

Jake, not all employers are like your experience. You have choices. Do you enjoy what you do? Are you looking for an organization that will develop your skills, provide you with training and growth opportunities? Give you a challenge, recognizing your achievements? Fair pay? It is there. I have been in the IT Professional Services industry for 18 years, and love the career - absolutely passionate about it. During a time span of several years I ran across employers that were not a good example; didn't pay me commissions due but did pay my colleagues commissions that mgmt. stated (in front of the whole staff) were due everyone, what they did pay me was less than standard industry wage for the areas in which I lived (below the state poverty level) when this profession pays well above the geographic area's poverty level in base salary alone - not adding on commissions & bonus, didn't provide time for my due PTO or comp time, didn't respect or service my client contracts, didn't complete background checks on candidates using a authorized and bonded security firm - rather thought they could do it themselves - calling to confirm education degrees (this is illegal - Higher Educ. institutions won't give out that information to an authorized company that isn't bonded) because they didn't want to pay the $42 for the check fora multi-million dollar client, didn't pay vendors and suppliers, told recruiters not to work my contracts with Tier1 accounts, sent candidates whose background and technical skills were not vetted to clients causing client dissatisfaction b/c the candidates weren't qualified - the list goes on and on . But, that didn't stop me from continuing to look for those employers that are 'golden' - the ones who are good, honest, pay you fairly, appreciate your commitment to the organization, and treat you and your clients with respect. You see, I have had lots of good work experiences through the years and know the difference between a good and a bad employer. Don't settle for working for dishonest, unethical, unstable bad employers. Find your passion. Get training for your career if you need to. Get professional help from your local Job Bank to write a great resume that reflects who you are, and practice interviewing. Make a list of qualities that you want in an employer, then research companies that meet those qualities. Call them, ask for an introductory meeting. The more you interview the better you get at it. Put your resume on Indeed, Monster and CareerBuilder. Do not ever give up. Good employers do exist - you will find one. I did - but it took me totally stepping out of the dishonest, negative, unethical, unstable environment I was working in. Now, after a year of looking I am in the final interview stage with an organization that checks off all of the boxes on my list, plus some - and I am anticipating an offer by week's end. Best of luck to you. I am sure that you will find a golden employer and much success!

Hey Jake, wow, three years, glad you're back to the world of the living. You state that you want a job that you can "enjoy" and "grow", these attributes in your job search sound great. But Jake, it really doesn't sound like you know what what direction you need to take in finding the job of your dreams. It's like me saying, "I want to be rich", all well and good but I'm not presenting any glimpse of a strategy for achieving my goal of getting rich. Take a moment and in all HONESTY ask yourself what am I bringing to the table? I'll start you off, you are conscientious, for three years you reported to a job you suspected was going nowhere, your loyal to your employer, and you have a good work ethic. Now you take it from there. You have the building blocks of a great employee, and now you've learned how to see through the lies some employers will resort to in order to keep a good person employed for as long as possible without providing them with the opportunity for advancement. After doing the HONEST self assessment get some training, so you can get a taste of what is out there, and don't waste your time ever again on dead end jobs, cause you're better than that. My dad used to say reach for the stars, what's the worst that can happen, you land on the moon? Good luck, stay strong. ,

Hi Jake I have worked for fast food for 17 years. I HAVE gotten the raises I HAVE gotten the promotions but after all these years I have realized that my whole life has passed me by and I am still there. Restaurant is demanding and the hours are crazy my best advice to you is run!!!!! as fast as you can. I am now looking for a new job and is not easy. If they do not appreciate you where you are then just go do not get comfortable.

I worked in a restaurant for the first 14 years of my job life. I found out about a career choice of becoming a firefighter. You have to look at your options. They may seem slim now but you need to create new avenues in your life. Make a decision to change your path. Such as go to a career school like a vocational school. Or look for civil service jobs. If you aren't happy in your job you won't feel fulfilled. Try a part time sales job. Or try doing an insurance job. Look in your state government jobs. The biggest thing to help also is to give your life to God and He will help make things happen for you. I took my application to my church and had my pastor pray over it.
