I just may be the droid you are looking for.

That's a real iffy question. In fact, I had to submit to a credit score on latest position. And I've had it come up in other positions but it never affected the hiring process. Some states have very, very stringent rules about hiring and credit reports. Some may say it's a way for a company to check a person's "character." To that, I say bull sheet. There was a major recession/depression in 2008! HELLO??? And nearly everyone went into the tank. It don't mean nothin' so don't sweat it.

First, some employers require it because of the position you work in (cash handling) or the place (a casino). I knew someone that was turned down for a waitress job at a casino because of a bad credit score. I think it has to do with their liability insurance.

How you can fix it: Try Credit Karma, which is a free site that gives you access to two of the three major reports. That way, if there is anything incorrect, you can get it fixed.

Hi April: I saw another Jobcaser say that the credit score shows how "responsible" an employee might be. I don't agree with it personally - I think credit scores aren't the best reflection of a person, since credit can get ruined by a medical bill or something outside of your control, and not "irresponsible behavior." What does everyone else think?
