This Scam is still going around.
I applied for a job on Glassdoor and received a text saying the position is filled but a client has a similar opening and was given a email to send my resume to the client.
I should’ve known it’s a scam from the text but I sent my resume to the email and received the below response:
I figured it was a scam after reading the email and doing online checks.

Wow this also happened to me so scary because now he has my address

The banker is wrong, you would only be legally liable for $50.00 regardless of the amount of the check. I've business law 1 & 2 in college and I have a friend going through law school that confirmed that as well.

Two weeks ago the same thing happened, it was through Indeed. I applied for administrative assistant Mon thru Fri and hours would be part time. A man which I can't recall his name personally emailed me which there not supposed to and he said he was really interested and he works in Europe for a medicine lab and he would send me a check to cover my pay as well as I would need to do some shopping at Staples, Best Buy and Target and have them delivered to a PO box. I told my husband and I contacted Indeed and they said they had been notified and the ad was removed. I figured that would end that, nope he sent me a email asking for my address and number and said I would have a check with list in mail in two days. I replied back and asked for his complete name and address for safety reasons I needed to verify him. He emailed back with a nice fake name and a post office box and name of company in Europe. I googled business and it is a local pharmacy in Texas and the name of company was his name switched. Upon looking I emailed and said Nice try scammie you've already been reported to Indeed and Police. And maybe if he had half a brain he would have at least googled the info. Needless to say.. I never heard back. Indeed did inform me that they had several complaints and they were working with law enforcement to find out the true identity. It's a crazy world!

It's not just personal assistant positions. Ive came across a lot of scam jobs. One with a past company I worked for and new was legit. But he wasn't I googled him and couldn't find him in the company rolodex

Thanks

Thanks
