Keep the fight going
Hi Folks - my name is Greg ("Hi Greg!") and I was recently displaced from my 100,000 thousand dollar plus job a year job due to outsourcing? Was I disappointed? Yes. Was I scared how I am going to pay all my bills, keep the mortgage up to date? Was I concerned if I could ever find another job again especially being over sixty? Yes. Was I angry or jealous? Yes. Did I cry out in frustration "Why me?!" Yes. The posts that I have been reading on this similar forum reflect the same sentiment - the same anger and frustration. And it is okay to be frustrated by all these lame career sites that are out there. My distaste are these Career sites that require folks like yourselves to pay a monthly fee of up to 60 dollars a month to find any anyone out there a job. Do not buy into that scam. There are no incentives for them to do so. What is their motivation to lose all these people paying 60 dollars a month to their company? None. The people out there who are convincing you to do so are just scam artists – the lowest form of humanity especially considering the financial dire that you are currently in. Here is where I lose a whole lot of people. I have no advice only to be thankful for the day. Is the electricity on today? Okay then, move on. Do you have access to the Internet? Of course you do! Just go to a library of Starbucks if they shut you down. No TV? Read a book. Walk. Keep your mind active. All that I stated above has happened to me and believe me, making over 100,00 a year hurts. Did I overspend on a bigger house, on newer cars? Of course I did! That was a mistake on my part and I have forgotten about it. That was then, this is now. Take one day at a time. If anyone out there has a significant other, express your feelings and your fears to them. Express them to this forum. Do not let them stay inside yourself because they will only fester and become worse. Your worries and fears are a decease, like a cancer, that will rob you of your potential. They are a poison which will do no good – just harm to everyone and their families. In closing, I am anti-religion. The most anti-religious person in the world, but I do believe in God. Religion confuses everything. There is a man on TV whose name is Joel Osteen. He is on Sunday morning on various cable channels. I challenge everyone out there to just listen to one of his messages. If you don’t believe it – what did you lose? Maybe a half of your time. His main message is to give up beating yourself up. Give up blaming yourself. Give up thinking that there is no way out. Give up thinking that you are alone and abandoned. I am not out of the woods yet but without receiving a penny from any outside sources like severance pay, unemployment or any other annuities or from family – my bills are being pay – all of them. Believe in God – that is the ticket. There are still miracles out there.

Yeah, you definitely shouldn't be paying someone to find a job for you. That's just taking advantage of someone. Lots of great advice in here Greg. We all make mistakes, and that's ok. Good luck in all your endeavors!

Thanks for sharing all of this Greg. This is a really good perspective that I think we all need once in awhile. I'll try to check out the guy you mentioned.
